Islami Academy Trust was established in 2005. Since beginning it has facilitated hundreds of talented students, from both College and Madrasa background across India, for higher studies. Improving the standards and prospects of higher education within the Muslim community and facilitating research in Islamic studies in the context of Indian society, religions, cultures, traditions and history have been twofold objectives of the academy.
In order to concentrate efforts on the front of higher education, the Trust has launched Indian Institute of Islamic Studies (IIIS) in 2016. We, at IIIS, run study courses namely:
- PG Diploma in Islamic Thought and Studies;
- Advanced Diploma in Comparative Religions and Civilisation; and
- Diploma in Islamic Discourse
The first course is offered to the students who have completed graduation (in any stream preferably humanities) from a University. The second course is for students who have completed their studies from Madrasa i.e. Alimiyat. The eligibility for the third course is Higher Secondary School Certificate.
Due to limitation of seats and swelling numbers of the aspirants, a nationwide entrance test has to be conducted with examination centres across the nation. Shortlisted candidates are called for interview at the campus of IIIS in Delhi. Admission is finalised on the basis of merit (as determined by the performance in the entrance test and the interviews). Selected students are offered full fellowship that covers their expenses of food and lodging. In-Campus residence has been preferred for students to facilitate an academic environment even outside the classroom. Students maintain a rigorous schedule of classes, exercise and extracurricular activities throughout their stay at the IIIS. Students are also given some merit-cum-means stipend as per the terms and conditions of the Trust.
Besides the above mentioned programmes, IIIS has also planned to start various short-term online and offline courses to enhance the pool of its beneficiaries. From March 2017, it has started two batches of weekly One-Year Certificate Course in Quranic Language and Teachings for homemakers and working professionals. From this academic session, we also launch a One-Year Distance Certificate Course in Islamic Studies.
